Hamisi Kimaro Shabani, MD PhD FCS
Dr H.K. Shabani has worked in the neurosurgery field for over 17 years. He has established a pediatric neuroendoscopy service for hydrocephalus and spina bifida in Tanzania under Cure Neuro (USA). He is the Co-Director of the Tanzania Neurosurgery Education Program in colaboration with Weill Cornell University NY USA. He is also the Assistant Program Director for COSECSA FCS training in Tanzania. He is the NIHR collaborator, working on neurotrauma multicenter clinical research. He has more than 46 publications from various fields in neurosurgery and the co-author of WHO accredited books and pamphlets. He is the accredited reviewer of various peer reviewed journals including scientific and medical research boards. Dr Shabani is also a member of WFNS Global Neurosurgery forum, WFNS Neurotrauma Committee, Subsaharan Network for Congenital Birth Defect Surveilance and the Subsaharan Network for pediatric neuro-oncology research.
His clinical expertise ranges from microscopic skull base surgery, ultra minimally invasive spine surgery utilizing robotics, tubular and endoscopic technique, pain clinic for back pain, and pediatric neurosurgery.
